Fossil fuel companies are drilling and spilling their way across public lands at an alarming rate, angling to lock in dirty fuel infrastructure for decades to come. Not only does this destroy the wild places we should all be able to enjoy, it is speeding climate change past the 1.5C tipping point. 

We know that without immediate action, climate change will soon outpace humans' ability to adapt to it. In fact, we're already seeing its disastrous effects: In Yosemite, we're seeing mass die-offs in conifer forests due to warming winters. Virgin Islands National Park is losing its iconic coral reefs to climbing water temperatures¹. Meanwhile, Glacier National Park is rapidly losing the ice sheets that inspired its name. And this is just some of the devastation we’re already witnessing.

The Sierra Club's Our Wild America team is fighting fossil fuel companies at every turn. We're campaigning for better protections for the endangered species suffering from habitat loss and climate change. And we're holding the Biden administration to its promises to build a clean energy future and protect 30% of lands and waters by 2030.
