Feeding the Planet, Cooling the Earth

For the month of April, we’re looking at the connection between the rights of peasants and the health of Mother Earth.

With Earth Day on April 22 and the International Day of Peasants’ Struggle on April 17, we are highlighting the intersection of peasant and environmental movements. Our movement partners, in many different ways, feed the world, cool the planet and protect biodiversity.

Raising a United Voice for Indigenous Lives and Mother Earth

As we celebrate Earth Day, let us celebrate the Indigenous movements at the center of defending the Earth — movements like our partner COPINH, The Civic Council of Popular and Indigenous Organizations of Honduras.

New Resources on Building Grassroots Power for Climate Justice

The CLIMA Fund — of which Grassroots International is a member — recently released both a series of short videos and an impact report on its 5-year anniversary of funding grassroots climate solutions.

Support Grassroots International’s Annual Fund!

Only a tiny percentage of philanthropic dollars in the United States is going to grassroots movements in the Global South. We are deeply committed to shifting that imbalance, and to moving resources boldly to the frontlines of these movements. Please support our Annual Fund if you can, and ensure movements for peasants and the planet are strong for the struggles ahead.

Welcome Devin!

Grassroots welcomed Devin Smith (she/her) to our team as the HR and Planning Coordinator. This new position plays right into Devin’s passion of helping staff navigate and understand their benefits. Devin notes, “Being able to help relieve even a small amount of their stress so they can focus their attention elsewhere, or even take a moment to relax and refresh, brings me the most joy.”

When she’s not knee-deep in benefit plans, Devin loves to hike (with the goal of hiking all 4,000-foot or higher mountains in New Hampshire) and gardening (especially aroids/araceae). Devin’s enthusiasm and love for learning are already bringing new levels of engagement and support to our growing organization.
