John,
I know you’ve been getting a lot of emails from us lately. But I’m asking if you can take a moment to read this the whole way through because I want to tell you exactly what your contributions help make possible — and what’s at stake if we keep falling short.
By now, you probably know that Real Justice works to elect principled, progressive DAs into office all over the country to transform our justice system so that our communities stop being criminalized and start being cared for. AND so that people brutalized by police can finally get accountability.
And when we get behind a candidate, we don’t like to do it in name only, like a lot of other organizations usually do. Trust me. I’ve been in politics for awhile and I can’t count the number of organizations that say they support a candidate, without ever doing anything that will materially help them win.
But at Real Justice? We aim to throw DOWN. We fundraise, organize, and do everything we can to help them win. That is how we make a REAL difference. City by city. County by county. State by state.
But when our fundraising slows down, our ability to help these candidates shrinks.
I’ll be honest, John. Real Justice’s fundraising is slowing too much. We’ve ALREADY had to make some incredibly hard decisions on where and how we can spend our resources due to our smaller budget.
That means less money to support candidates and less money that will enable us to organize. Period.
Here’s what happens when we can’t afford to do that work as big as we want to: Our opponents get emboldened.
Wealthy right-wing donors, dark money groups, police unions, you name it — if they stand to profit from our so-called ‘justice’ system, then they’ll do anything to stop our progress.
This couldn’t come at a worse time. We have BIG elections coming up in May and June. And we absolutely HAVE to win those races.
We have always punched above our weight at Real Justice, but we simply cannot afford to slow down at the rate that we’ve been experiencing lately.
John, we depend on people like you to support this life-saving work. Please never doubt just how big of an impact you can have. Everything we have accomplished in the past five years has been because of folks like you chipping in what you can to power our fight for real justice.
Thank you for reading and for always being with us in this fight, John. I am so grateful for you, always.
Chris
