I hope this message finds you well. As your Thirteenth Congressional District Representative, I want to share with you some important updates from the past month:

'Unpacking' The Meatpacking Industry To Help Lower Prices For American Consumers

As you may be aware, beef prices have skyrocketed for consumers. This month, as Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, I held a hearing to take a hard look at the consolidation occurring in the meatpacking industry and to discuss ways that we can work to lower food prices for Americans.

Strengthening SNAP Benefits

This month, I held a U.S. House Agriculture Committee Hearing to discuss the Supplemental Nutrition Food Assistance Program (SNAP). 

The latest data shows that more than 35 thousand households in Georgia's Thirteenth District participate in SNAP, or 13 percent of all households in the district, and each of them is seeing an increase in their SNAP benefits thanks to the Thrifty Food Plan reevaluation included in the 2018 Farm Bill (on average, $36.24 more per person per month – or about $1.19 more per person per day).

Recognizing Earth Day (April 22, 2022)

The #ClimateCrisis is a global issue that affects us all. This #EarthDay, I proudly recommitted to taking action for the climate and environmental justice, and I pledged to continue my work in Congress to ensure that our planet remains livable for generations to come.

Celebrating National Parks Week (April 16-24)

This month, I was proud to celebrate our country's #NationalParks and their rich history of providing Americans the opportunity to get out and enjoy the beauty and serenity of nature. I'd like to thank the National Park Foundation and National Park Service for all that they do to preserve our public landscapes!
