I got involved in politics for the same reason so many other women do – I was mad.

People told me that I couldn’t make a difference. One male legislator even said I was “just a mom in tennis shoes.” I had two choices. I could admit defeat or show him just how far these tennis shoes could carry me. And here’s the thing about moms – we’re always tougher than you think.

Since then, I’ve been fighting for every mom and family in Washington state by leading important fights in the Senate – like ending the child care crisis, guaranteeing paid family leave, and lowering health care costs.

But we only have a razor-thin majority, and the GOP are determined to not only block our agenda that puts families first but also win back control of Congress in November.

I go to work every day in the other Washington to fight for families like yours and make sure your voices are heard. Republicans don’t like me for just that reason – and that’s why they’re targeting Washington state as a seat to flip this November.

Republicans only need ONE seat to retake the Senate majority so it’s critical we do everything we can to win this race in Washington state and defend and expand our Democratic majorities in both the House and Senate.
