| | For Democrats, Taxes Are Always the Answer |
Chairman Kyle Hupfer and Mike Pompeo, former U.S. Secretary of State and Director of the CIA during the Trump Administration, pose for a photo after the Allen County Lincoln Day Dinner on Tuesday. |
Last Monday was Tax Day — otherwise known as the Democrats' favorite holiday.
And just a few weeks before that, Joe Biden unveiled his budget for the upcoming fiscal year. Unsurprisingly, it was filled with tax hikes, wasteful spending, and new debt. In fact, his plan contains 36 tax hikes totaling $2.5 trillion in new or increased taxes, including a nearly $1 trillion tax increase on families. Moreover, the plan calls for increasing the corporate tax rate and taxing unrealized gains, making our tax rates some of the highest in the developed world. What would be the result if his budget was enacted? One-hundred fifty-nine thousand less jobs, a loss in GDP to the tune of $720 billion, and lower wages.
As you know, we're already experiencing some of that now. Thanks to the economic policies of Joe Biden and the Democrats, inflation has skyrocketed to a 40-year high, costing the average Hoosier family $496 in March alone. On top of that, real wages are down by 2.7%. And just yesterday, the Commerce Department announced that GDP had decreased by 1.4% for the first quarter of the year. Higher inflation and lower GDP seems to be the key pillars of the "Biden Plan," which he claims is working just fine.
But Obama-era economic advisor Stephen Rattner stated earlier this month that Joe Biden and the Democrats' $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan "will go down in history as an extraordinary policy mistake" and that it has put the U.S. "behind the curve" on skyrocketing inflation. So what do the Democrats plan to do now? According to Chuck Schumer, “If you want to get rid of inflation, the only way to do it is to raise…undo the Trump tax cuts and raise rates.” Enjoy this week's newsletter and share it with a friend.
