A personal message from Terri Sewell

Folks, I love Alabama.

I was born here, raised here, and I’ve spent the majority of my life here. Now, I know our state isn’t perfect, but I can’t think of any other place I’d rather call home.

I want to tell you all about my history in the 7th District, the Black Belt, and why I’ll never stop fighting for our state. But first, will you chip in toward my end-of-month fundraising goal to help ensure this Democratic seat in a red state stays blue?

It’s no secret that the history of Alabama’s 7th District is complicated. From the Selma marches in 1965 to the conflicts we see today, the story of Alabama’s 7th is one of prejudice, protest, leadership, and love.

My family has called the Black Belt home for generations. Like many others at the time, my grandfather was a sharecropper who worked hard from dusk ‘til dawn to provide for his family. My mother and father both worked in public schools, and instilled in me the importance of a good education.

Needless to say, Alabama’s Black Belt is in my blood. This district is like family to me – no matter its history or its struggles, I’m always going to fight for it.

And now, more than ever, the Black Belt deserves a fighter in Congress. From the GOP’s erosion of voting rights to the need for health equity, nearly every issue we hear about today directly impacts everyday Alabamians.

I'm eternally grateful to have the opportunity to represent this historic, remarkable district that I call home. But in order to keep representing the Black Belt in Congress, I need your help.

My team is working to raise $10,000 before Sunday. Will you chip in $10, or anything you can toward my end-of-month goal to ensure the residents of the 7th District are represented by a Democratic fighter from the Black Belt?
