Russia's war in Ukraine is raising the risk of food insecurity around the world.

Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine threatens to exacerbate food insecurity around the world as the flow of agricultural exports from the two countries is impacted by the conflict. As a result, international food prices ― which were already at an all-time high prior to the war ― have surged even higher.

This has prompted an urgent call by the UN’s World Food Program (WFP) to warn of a cascade of hunger in war-torn and impoverished regions around the world if action isn’t taken to stabilize food supplies and feed those who lack access to adequate nutrition.

Are you concerned about food insecurity worsening around the world due to Russia’s war on Ukraine?

Firearms Become the Leading Cause of Death in Children

Firearms became the leading cause of death in children in 2020, surpassing auto accidents, which was the number one cause of death among the cohort for decades.

Overall gun-related deaths increased by 13.5% from 2019 to 2020, but researchers from the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) found that these fatalities rose nearly 30% for those under the age of 19. These firearm-related deaths include incidents of suicide, accidental shootings, and homicides.

How do you feel about the rise in child gun violence fatalities?

New Mexico to Offer Free Higher Education to Most State Residents

New Mexico has approved one of the most wide-reaching free college initiatives in the country, offering tuition-free higher education to nearly all state residents regardless of financial, immigration, or criminal record status.

The law takes effect in July and is part of a growing number of state-sponsored programs to make higher education more affordable.

Should more states implement free college tuition programs?
