A new vision for improving health and wellbeing

We?re working with people from across the city to try to reduce health inequalities in Nottingham. Our new Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy sets out our plan to improve healthy life expectancy by tackling the main causes of poor health, such as smoking, obesity and deprivation.
Health inequalities are affected by the conditions in which people are born, grow up, live, work and age, as well as factors such as age, gender, ethnicity and where a person lives. Overall, the health of people in Nottingham is generally worse than the England average.
We are committed to working with everyone to improve the life chances of people in our city. You can read the Nottingham Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy (2022-2025) at www.healthynottingham.co.uk [ [link removed] ].

City Council to repay misallocated housing funds and bring NCH back in-house
Council houses
Yesterday at our Executive Board meeting, we agreed to implement all recommendations made in two reports we commissioned to look at the misallocation of housing funds. This includes returning misallocated funds to the Housing Revenue Account (HRA) which is for the benefit of our tenants and bringing Nottingham City Homes back to be managed by the council.
This is a serious matter where the new leadership and senior management of the council have shown determination to take the swift and firm action needed to address these past issues and move forward positively.
Bringing NCH in-house is about being able to provide reassurance to ourselves, our tenants, the Assurance and Improvement Board and the Government that these governance and financial failures cannot happened again. It will allow greater accountability for the use of rent payers? money and to retain services under the democratic control of the council. Find out more here [ [link removed] ]
