Working Groups
Corporate Transparency & ESG Disclosure:
The working group held a webinar on April 13th featuring Renee Jones, Director of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Corporation Finance. Director Jones addressed the SEC’s proposed rule that would enhance and standardize registrants’ climate-related disclosures for investors and took questions. You can view the recording here ([link removed]) . The next working group meet is on May 11th and will be focused on finalizing the ASBN comment to the SEC. If you wish to learn more, please contact Ali-Reza Vahabzadeh ([email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) ).

Regenerative Agriculture:
In April, the Regenerative Agriculture and Justice Working Group continued to narrow down its priorities for the 2023 Farm Bill. If you are interested in having input on our farm bill priorities, now is the time to get involved. Contact Colton Fagundes at [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) . Also this month, Jim Kleinschmidt of Other Half Processing SBC presented opportunities for the  Working Group to collaborate on a proposal for a USDA grant-funded project. The project would earn more returns for ranchers that are able to verify their climate-smart production by connecting them with regenerative, value-added markets in the meat, apparel cosmetic, pet, and other related sectors.

Circular Economy:
With recent commitments from businesses on plastic, (Coca-cola ([link removed]) , Restaurant Brand International ([link removed]) , Mattel ([link removed]) , Aldi ([link removed]) , etc.) it is the perfect opportunity to push for corresponding legislative action on plastics pollution in Congress. To take action on plastic, the American Sustainable Business Network in coordination with its movement partner, Break Free from Plastic, is looking to bring business voices to Capitol Hill as part of the event schedule and meetings with members of Congress from June 14th-16^th. If you want to help lead plastic pollution policy, join us in DC. Contact Stephanie (mailto:[email protected]) , our new Director of
Circular Economy Policy, to get involved.
