Coach Kennedy Defends Free Speech, Religion at Supreme Court Oral Arguments

By: Bruce Hausknecht

Can a public high school fire a coach for taking a knee and praying quietly at the fifty-yard line after a football game? The answer to that question was explored by the justices of the U.S. Supreme Court on April 25 during oral arguments in the case of Coach Joe Kennedy, who was fired in 2015 from his coaching position at Bremerton High School in Bremerton, Washington.

Supreme Court arguments can appear obtuse to the layman, peppered as they are with legal “hypotheticals” – i.e., where the questioner tweaks the facts of the case slightly – which at first glance don’t seem to have anything to do with the actual facts of the case. But as the justices explored the arguments from lawyers for the parties, using questions dominated by such hypotheticals, the scheduled one-hour oral argument stretched an additional 50 minutes.

Prison Fellowship’s Second Chances: Sammy Perez Shares Story of Redemption and Hope for Former Prisoners

By: Jeff Johnston

Sammy Perez knows about second chances. In 2005, he was sentenced to prison for ten years in Virginia, serving his time in both youth and adult facilities.

Perez grew up without knowing his father – only seeing him twice before his dad was murdered. His mom struggled with mental illness. Taken away from her at age two, he was shunted around between family members.

At age eleven, his mother knew she could not offer the care he needed and gave him up to social services, where he became a ward of the state. Perez still has a relationship with her, but she still struggles with mental health issues.

All this led to “an introduction to the streets at an early age,’ he told The Daily Citizen.

But imprisonment also led to his redemption. While Perez was out in the prison yard, his cellmate stayed inside, reading his Bible. He also shared the gospel with Perez, who gave his life to the Lord.

Talk about second chances: He’s been out for eleven years now and is married with four children. He also has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Liberty University, specializing in addiction and recovery, as well as a master’s degree in professional counseling.

Tennessee Protects Women and Preborn Babies by Passing Ban on Mail-Order Abortions

By: Zachary Mettler

The abortion industry claims to be a protector and promoter of women’s rights. In reality, it’s anything but.

Abortion clinics prey upon women’s vulnerability, all under the guise of offering them a helping hand in their moment of need.

Take Planned Parenthood as an example. Though it’s legally a “nonprofit,” the nation’s leading abortion seller reaped an enormous revenue of $1.64 billion in FY 2020, netting a $69.7 million profit.

How does a nonprofit (that received $618.1 million in taxpayer dollars in FY 2020) net a nearly $70 million profit in one year?

For anyone who thinks Planned Parenthood isn’t in it for the money, that fact should instantly set off their internal alarm bells.

The organization claims that it provides “care and education to millions” and fights “for the rights of all people. No matter what.”

More like, if they get paid.

As the U.S. Supreme Court currently considers whether to overrule Roe v. Wade and grant states greater latitude to prohibit abortions, multiple states across the nation have passed various pro-life laws to protect preborn babies.

Pray for Elon Musk and for Blinded Liberal Eyes to be Opened

By: Paul Batura

Media was buzzing late Monday and Tuesday with liberal reaction to Elon Musk’s controversial purchase of the social media giant Twitter. It was decidedly negative.

It seems for some, “free speech” only extends in one ideological direction.

On MSNBC, Ari Melber lamented the business magnate “could secretly ban one party’s candidate” or “secretly turn down the reach of their stuff or turn up the reach of something else.”

The exasperated host seemed oblivious to the fact that the current owners of Twitter have long done what they’re fearing Musk will now do.

Many of us are left scratching our heads that Melber and others didn’t even recognize how hypocritical their statements are. It seems they don’t even see how silly their statements sound to those who think critically.

But then again, most of these people don’t believe what we do – and therefore, their vision is greatly distorted.

The late Chuck Colson, founder of Prison Fellowship and President Richard Nixon’s aide who served prison time for his part in the Watergate coverup, was once asked how Christians should respond to critics who don’t share our faith.

“If a blind man steps on your foot, would you be mad and hold it against him?” he asked.

Liberal Critics Assail Bumper Sticker Labels of So-Called ‘LGBT’ Movement

By: The Daily Citizen

No one has not heard of an “LGBTQ person” or the “LGBTQ community.”

If either were a company, their global brand awareness would transcend Amazon, Facebook, Coco-Cola, and Starbucks combined. This is hardly an overstatement.

Douglas Murray, a British public intellectual and openly homosexual man, explains as much in his very important book, The Madness of Crowds,

“There is no other issue (let alone one affecting relatively few people) that has so swiftly reached the stage whereby whole pages of newspapers are devoted to its latest developments and there is never-ending demand not just to change the language [to support it], but to make up the science around it.”

It has become a public duty for everyone to at least pretend to be concerned about the well-being of all things “LGBTQ,” has it not? Politicians, business leaders, educators and media darlings speak of it in reverential tones, eager to genuflect before it in highly public ways.

But if we are to live in truth, we must appreciate that both the “LGBTQ person” and “LGBTQ community” are mere creative fictions. When people use those words, they are referring to an artificial ideological and socio-political concept that does not exist in any actual reality.
