Listen, my friends. If you live in Washington County, Oregon — OR if you have friends and family who do, make sure they get to know Brian Decker. Even if you don’t, we need you now. His race is neck-and-neck!!!
He is running to be the next DA for Washington County.
Brian has experience on both sides of a courtroom — first as a federal prosecutor and then as a public defender.
The current DA has long upheld DEEPLY racist policies that contribute to mass incarceration and the same cycles of harm that have disproportionately impacted Black and brown people in Washington County, which is the most diverse county in all of Oregon!!
In fact, this DA was reprimanded by the Oregon Court of Appeals for removing the ONE BLACK JUROR from a jury pool under false pretenses. ONE.
This race is SO CLOSE!!! Brian’s primary is on May 17th but we can’t help him win without support from people like you.
Brian is fighting to finally hold the police accountable for their actions in Washington County.
I spoke with Brian on Instagram Live recently and let me tell you this: He ABSOLUTELY understands that true public safety doesn’t mean using police as a means to address community needs.
He wants to make sure people who are trained in mental health, addiction recovery, and social work are a part of the public safety response in Washington County.
That, right there, is what saves lives.
As a former public defender, Brian has seen how our current justice system is set up by DESIGN to cause harm and criminalize.
Brian will do transformative work as Washington County’s next District Attorney.
Electing people like Brian is how we transform our system into one that supports community care. It is how we save lives. It is how we fight for real justice.
No matter where you live, by supporting our efforts to elect Brian, YOU are helping to move this mission forward, John. We need you with us now.
City by city. County by county. State by state. That’s how we’re doing this work, John. I can’t say enough how grateful I am to be in this fight with you.
Love and appreciate you,
Shaun
