Our outdated water systems are dumping billions of gallons of raw sewage into our waterways, flooding streets and neighborhoods, and contaminating our drinking water. Climate change is now making matters worse.
To protect human health and the environment, we must have dedicated support for our aging drinking water and wastewater systems. But federal funding is currently falling far short of what’s needed. The bipartisan infrastructure law of 2021 provided less than a tenth of the funding that our water systems need.
This is unacceptable — so we’re organizing to pass the WATER Act (HR 1352, S916), federal legislation that would fund critical upgrades for communities' water systems, to ensure that everyone has access to safe, clean and affordable water.
Food & Water Action and its affiliated organization, Food & Water Watch, are advocacy groups with a common mission to protect our food, water and climate.
