Hi,
First, Senate Republicans proposed ending Social Security within five
years.
Then, in the face of massive public backlash, Republican Senatorial
Committee Chairman Rick Scott tried to deny it.
But as much as Republicans try to backpedal away from their plan to end
Social Security, it's right there in black-and-white, in their 11-point
"Rescue America" plan.^1
The best way we can really ensure that Social Security is safe for the
future is to pass the Social Security 2100 Act. This bill would expand
benefits and shore up funding to keep Social Security strong for the rest
of the century. With Republicans on the defensive, we have a chance to
push this bill through now—if we can mobilize enough grassroots support.

The Republican agenda proposed by Senate Republican Senatorial Committee
Chairman Rick Scott would phase out any law, including Social Security and
Medicare, after five years unless Congress renewed it.
Separately, Republican Senator Mitt Romney has proposed cutting Social
Security benefits for younger Americans.^2
But a whopping 95% of Americans support Social Security, and the public
response to these proposals has been brutal.^3 That's why Republicans are
trying to pretend they don't support their own proposals. They know it's
political suicide.
Now, we need to go on offense and push for legislation that would protect
Social Security for the long haul. Demand Progress has sent nearly 40,000
messages to Congress this month in support of Social Security 2100. If
these Republicans really support Social Security, then make them prove it
by voting for this bill.
The time to act is now, so please, don't just delete this email. Every
dollar counts, so chip in whatever you can afford.
