Tell the Biden Administration to end 287(g) now.

ACLU Supporter –

Rampant racial profiling. Broken tail lights ending in arrest and inhumane detention. Minor interactions with an officer leading to whole families torn apart.

This has unfolded across the country for years and a federal program that grew rapidly under Trump – called 287(g) – empowered it.

The program enables local police – primarily sheriffs – to act as ICE agents. As a result, sheriffs notorious for racism, xenophobia, and civil rights violations have been able to target and attack immigrants in their communities.

President Biden promised to roll back Trump's expansion of the program, but it remains mostly intact. His administration continues to partner with and empower the abusive sheriffs recruited by Trump. But it's past time the destructive program was stopped: Please join us in this fight by telling the Biden administration to end 287(g). <[link removed]>

Take Action <[link removed]>

"287(g)" may sound wonky, but the truth of it is clear: ACLU investigations released this week found that 65% of participating sheriffs have records exhibiting a pattern of racial profiling or other civil rights violations.

Among the most disturbing? Excessive use of force in and outside of jails – and in some cases, racialized violence against Black and Brown individuals, including beatings and killings.

By continuing partnerships with these sheriffs and local agencies, the Biden administration is sending a message that his administration is willing to overlook anti-immigrant hate, ACLU Supporter.

That's why we need to send our own message back: Tell the Biden administration that 287(g) is a racist and dangerous program – and it must end once and for all. <[link removed]>

For immigrants' rights and community safety – thank you for taking action.
