John,

The best part of my job is getting to know Minnesotans in every line of work and from every walk of life. Our state's greatest asset has always been our people, and over the past three years, Lt. Governor Flanagan and I have fought hard to make the investments they deserve.

We funded education at historic levels, cut taxes for working families, and made Minnesota one of the best states in the country to raise a child. And we did it all while balancing every budget.

We made these investments not just because it's the right thing to do but also because it's smart economics. Our children and our workers are the future, and we need to skate where the puck is going to be, not where it is right now.

John, with our historic budget surplus, we've never been in a better position to lower costs for Minnesotans' everyday expenses, invest in the middle class, and make our state the best place in the country to raise a family for generations to come.

Lt. Governor Flanagan and I are committed to seizing this opportunity, but we can't do it alone. We're facing a crowded field of extreme Republican opponents who would rather cut taxes for massive corporations and the ultra-wealthy – and they know this midterm election is their best chance in years to flip Minnesota red.

That’s why I’m following up this morning: I just spoke with Berrett, my campaign finance director. He says we still need to raise more than $17,000 to hit our April budget target by tomorrow night.
