Forests pull about one-third of all human-caused carbon dioxide emissions from the atmosphere each year, which makes protecting climate forests one of the most cost-effectve climate solutions: [link removed]

Dear Friend,
In a win for the trees and our climate, President Biden announced on Earth Day that his administration is taking an important first step to safeguard mature and old-growth forests on federal lands. With help from advocates like you, he signed an executive order directing agencies to inventory mature and old-growth forests on federal lands nationwide and to develop policies to protect them.
Together, we have urged the administration to protect mature and old-growth forests in order to address our climate and biodiversity crises and the President has heeded your calls. We need to kep the pressure on in order to ensure that protecting climate forests from logging remains a central pillar of our national climate strategy. [link removed]
Older trees accumulate and store enormous amounts of carbon over many centuries, providing vital wildlife habitat, clean water, clean air, and mitigation for floods and droughts. The executive order directs federal agencies to complete an inventory of all old-growth and mature forests and this information should quickly inform a rule-making process that will permanently protect these climate forests across all federal lands.
The President's bold action rightly recognizes the importance of mature forests and old-growth trees. Protecting them is exactly the direction the federal forest management needs to move. We need your help to make sure the administration completes this process as quickly as possible and takes the next step to issue a federal rule to protect and stop logging of mature and old-growth trees in America's federal forests. Sincerely,
Blaine Miller-McFeeley
Senior Legislative Representative
