Kia ora John,

I hope you enjoyed the recent run of public holidays, and that you’re already making plans for Aotearoa’s first ever Matariki holiday in June.

This month we ticked past half way in this Parliamentary term. We’re now closer to the next election than the last election!

As Labour's General Secretary, my job is to ensure our Party is on a strong footing coming into the campaign. That stretches from building our volunteer capacity, making sure our technology and digital systems are ready, and building the strongest possible staff team at HQ to lead us through the campaign.

But the single area which is most important is building our campaign fund: because without a sizeable campaign budget, we’re limited in everything else we can do.

We’ve made a good start to our 2023 fundraising, but we’re a long way behind National, who raised $1.8 million from just 19 wealthy people last month.

So If you’re keen and able, the very best way to support us at this halfway point between elections is to donate to our campaign fund today.

<[link removed]>NO, NOT TODAY <[link removed]>

Every dollar raised helps return Jacinda and the team to government next year. I’ll provide an update on how we’re tracking over the next couple of weeks.

In the meantime I wanted to say thank you to everyone for your support through the first half of this term. We’re looking forward to working with you all to ensure Labour continues to govern after the next election in (gulp!) less than 18 months’ time.

Ngā mihi,

Rob Salmond

P.S. Now’s also a great time to set up a monthly donation to our party, if you haven’t already done so. This type of donation enables us to better plan how we’ll use it, and ensure we get the best bang for buck. It’s simple to set up and only takes a couple of minutes. Start a recurring donation here. <[link removed]>
