Dear John, On Wednesday April 27th, the Virginia General Assembly reconvened to consider Governor Youngkin’s amendments and vetoes to bills that previously passed the legislature during the 2022 legislative session. Equality Virginia was tracking several bills during the veto session and we’re fortunate none of the governor’s amendments that would have negatively impacted-LGBTQ+ Virginians were recommended for approval by both chambers. We faced a lot this session. But together, we defeated bills targeting transgender & non-binary youth and bills that would have undermined the Virginia Values Act. Now is the time to keep up the momentum and show transgender and non-binary youth in Virginia that we’ve got their back. I hope you’ll join us on Thursday, May 5th from 12:00-1:00 pm for a comprehensive debrief on the 2022 General Assembly, what we can expect for 2023, and ways you can take action and volunteer during our Summer of Action. RSVP now for our Lunch & Learn! |
