** NOVEMBER CHAIRMAN'S BRIEFING
------------------------------------------------------------

My Fellow Orange County Republicans –

We are only months away from the 2020 March Primary election and a little under a year away from 2020 November General election.

While much attention will be paid to the November election, Orange County Republicans cannot afford to stay home in March. California's Top Two primary means Republicans throughout the county must come out to vote for our Republican candidates for Congress, Senate and Assembly to make sure a Republican in every district advances to the general election.

Orange County also has two important races for Orange County Supervisor that could be decided in March. Supervisor Andrew Do (District 1) and Supervisor Don Wagner (District 3) are on the March ballot for reelection. If either candidate receives more than 50% of the vote they will be reelected, our Republican majority on the Orange County Board of Supervisors will be secured and our resources can be focused on winning back seats instead of a run-off in November. We must reelect Andrew Do and Don Wagner in March.

Last week Republicans had a huge win in the California Supreme Court when a unanimous decision was handed down against the out-of-control Sacramento Democrats' law that would have removed President Trump from your ballot. After Senate Bill 27 was passed and Governor Newsom signed it, the California Republican Party took Democrats to court for your right to vote for President Trump in 2020 and Republicans won. President Trump will appear on your March Primary ballot giving us an opportunity to turn out to the polls and show the president how much support he has in Orange County.

Days before their win in court, Republican Party Chairwoman Jessica Millan Patterson addressed our Central Committee and guests to update us on her first months as Chairwoman and the strategy for 2020. Since her election as Chairwoman Jessica has traveled over 40,000 miles raising funds, meeting with Republican groups and working to build a robust infrastructure with the tools necessary to win. She also emphasized the importance of Orange County as ground zero for the California Republican comeback. We continue to work with our state and national partners to ensure Orange County will have the regional offices and staff to fight for and win our seats in March and November.

I also had the pleasure of welcoming Vice President Mike Pence to Orange County for a Trump-Pence reelection fundraiser in Huntington Beach. Vice President Pence made an impassioned case for reelection and assured us that California and Orange County's four targeted Congressional races were a priority for the Trump campaign and Republican National Committee.

Victory in 2020 will be decided by Republican turnout and our ability to earn the votes of No Party Preference voters. This is where we need you. If you are committed to voting Republican in 2020 please visit ocgop.org/voterpledge so we know we can count on your vote. We also need Republican volunteers to walk their neighborhoods to secure additional Republican voters and earn the votes of No Party Preference voters. When you complete the voter pledge you can select the option to also volunteer and we will be in contact with you to set you up in your neighborhood.

I also want to congratulate our Republican candidates in November's special elections in San Clemente and Santa Ana. Our endorsed Republican candidate Gene James was elected to the San Clemente City Council with 55% of the vote and almost double the vote total of the Democrat endorsed candidate. Gale Oliver and Gisela Contreras were our endorsed candidates for Santa Ana City Council and Santa Ana Unified School District; while they came up short I want to thank them for their willingness to represent our party in their community.

Finally with Thanksgiving this week I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as Chairman of the Republican Party of Orange County and representing over 544,000 registered Republicans in Orange County. I am also grateful for every dedicated Republican in Orange County from volunteers and activists to staff and candidates working so hard to fight for our county and our country.

Sincerely,

Hon. Fred M. Whitaker
Chairman, Republican Party of Orange County
