This week in tobacco policy news

Alaska—The Senate passed a bill that would raise the minimum age to purchase tobacco products to 21 and enact a 75% wholesale tax on e-cigarettes, which is the same rate currently imposed on cigarettes. The bill now moves to the House for consideration.

Brunswick, Maine— On April 19, the town council passed an ordinance to prohibit the sale of flavored tobacco products. The ordinance will go into effect June 1, 2022.
