I never set out to become a politician. For many years, I was a doctor and Chief Medical Officer of Sacramento County. Everything I do as a representative in Congress comes from hearing my patients’ worries and from respecting science.
John, this month marks Earth Day and the 5th March for Science and the fact is, too many of my colleagues don’t care about what the facts are on scientific issues—from climate change and public health emergencies to reproductive health and lowering the cost of health care visits and life-saving medications.
John, I don’t think I can overstate how pivotal November’s elections will be for our majority in Congress and for our health care outcomes.
Our opponents are getting more and more extreme as Republican primaries go on. They’re dangerous, John.
I don’t want them to undo all of the progress we’ve made in building sustainable and equitable infrastructure, investing in our local economies, and growing our nation after the last 2 years of the pandemic. But I need you with me.
