Team,

My Democratic colleagues and I have been doing everything in our power to hold Vladimir Putin accountable for his unprovoked and illegal invasion of Ukraine.

Last month, I joined Senators Elizabeth Warren, Jack Reed, and Jon Tester in introducing the Digital Asset Sanctions Compliance Enhancement Act.

The bill would put in place measures that ensure Putin and his elites cannot use cryptocurrencies and other digital assets to evade sanctions.

This bill is crucial to keeping the pressure on Putin to end his war. Please add your name to my petition urging the Senate to take up this bill. [link removed]

Following the invasion, President Biden and our allies abroad acted quickly and decisively to implement aggressive sanctions to cripple Vladimir Putin’s ability to wage war. We also blacklisted many of his cronies and oligarchs to make it harder for them to profit while causing so much misery and pain.

But the cryptocurrency market remains largely unregulated. It’s a glaring hole that could allow Russia to evade sanctions. This legislation closes off these avenues by cracking down on foreign actors who help Russia access and use such digital assets.

Every day that goes by without this bill being in place makes it easier for Putin and his allies to get the money they need for their unjust war. Sign my petition today. [link removed]

Thank you,

Mark
