Friend, As I continue hitting the ground in Michigan’s new 7th district (made up of Ingham, Livingston, Eaton, Clinton, and Shiawassee Counties as well as Milford, South Lyon, and 200 folks in Genesee County), I wanted to break down the numbers in this race: As you can see, we’ve got our work cut out for us. The key to success? Meeting people where they’re at. That’s why I’ve spent the past few months hitting the ground in the new parts of MI-07. This area has so much to offer! I’ve held local events to get to know folks in the new areas, spoken with passionate grassroots volunteer groups somehow doing the work of twice their membership, gotten a taste of some of MI-07’s (many!) breweries, thrown on my snow boots to knock doors in the frigid Michigan winter, and so much more. And I’m only just getting started. To win in this district, I’ll need to campaign like I’m running for mayor in 30 small towns at once. It means reaching more of the thousands of folks who have never seen my name on their ballot by showing up in their rural communities (that haven't seen a politician, much less a Democrat, in years) and purchasing advertisements to introduce myself to those I can’t meet in person.
