Yesterday I signed the paperwork to file as a candidate running to represent the 4th Senate District for another term. It is hard to believe it has been four years since we did this the first time! What an honor it has been to serve my constituents and represent our values in Dover.

Since you elected me in 2018, my caucus members and I have kept our campaign promises by raising the minimum wage to $15, providing Paid Family and Medical Leave for all full-time employees, increasing our renewal energy standards, enabling community solar programs, funding additional school counselors to support our students' mental health, securing historic funding for special education students, and introducing a suite of literacy bills designed to get every Delaware student reading on level by the end of grade 3. We've also passed sweeping smart justice reforms, voting rights legislation, and gun safety measures. Next week I will introduce legislation to tackle workplace harassment and discrimination.

But I am just getting started. There is work yet to be done and I am excited to serve another term so that we can build on all these accomplishments. To that end, the team has started knocking on doors to hear about the priorities of 4th District residents. We will be out every weekend and several nights a week between now and election day. If you'd like to volunteer as a canvasser, phone-banker, post-card writer, or any other role, please contact my campaign manager Ross at [email protected]. We would love to have your help.

I also learned this week that I will have a Republican opponent in November. While this is nothing out of the ordinary in a two-party system, it does mean that the Laura Sturgeon Team will have to put more resources into our campaign. I am hoping that you will help us out with a donation to help kick off the next phase of our campaign.
