Today, I’m filing the paperwork to kick off my re-election campaign for U.S. Senate.
In the Senate, I have worked tirelessly for families in Illinois and across the nation, fighting to defend the Affordable Care Act, enact meaningful criminal justice reform, secure our elections from foreign interference, and hold President Trump accountable for his reckless actions.
I have also been a champion for passing comprehensive immigration reform and standing with Dreamers. I introduced the original Dream Act in 2001 and have been fighting to give these hardworking young people a path to citizenship in the only country they’ve ever known.
Keeping Illinois blue is critical in the fight to give Democrats control of the Senate in 2020 -- which means we simply cannot afford to lose this race, John.
Taking back the House has been crucial to holding President Trump accountable and passing legislation that helps move our country forward -- but the Senate GOP is blocking all of the progress that House Democrats are making for the American people. We must ensure our next Democratic President won’t be subjected to Mitch McConnell’s legislative graveyard.
We can win the Senate, John -- but we have to win this race.
