Hi John,

There’s less than a month before the May 24th primary election.

But relax, this isn’t a fundraising pitch. We at Hank HQ want to make sure you have all the latest information about how, where, and when to cast your ballot if you’re a Georgia voter.

Republicans have chipped away at our voting rights, John, so we will have to be extra diligent in making a plan to vote. That means knowing ahead of time whether you’ll be voting by absentee ballot or in person, knowing when you need to vote, and where to go. Please make sure to share this information with other Georgians who may not have Internet access.

If you’re a registered voter who plans to cast an absentee ballot, your application for an absentee ballot must be received by your election office 11 days before voting. For more information on what is required to participate in Georgia’s absentee voting process, click the button below.

Georgia voters can also vote in-person before election day by going to an early voting location in their county. The button below will help you find locations in your county that will be open for early voting, as well as the operating hours of those sites.

If you plan to vote in person on election day, you can vote in Georgia between the hours of 7:00 am and 7:00 pm at your assigned polling location. You will still be able to vote as long as you are in line by 7:00 pm. To find your assigned election day polling location, click the button below and sign in to use the My Voter Page tool.

Georgia requires voters to have photo identification, whether you’re voting in person or sending in an application for an absentee ballot. Click the button below for a full list of types of identification you can use to vote.

All the information we’ve provided above comes directly from the office of Georgia’s Secretary of State. For more information, you can go to the Secretary of State’s election website:

For simple instructions on how to navigate the Secretary of State’s website, the Georgia Democrats have an online voter protection resource center, as well as a dedicated voter protection line to call if you have questions or need assistance:

We’ll level with you, John. A lot of Georgia’s voting processes need to be made better. Voting is SO fundamental a right in a healthy democracy that the ballot box should be as accessible as possible to all voters.

People of color, the disadvantaged, low-income folks, and the historically oppressed have long faced difficulties in exercising their right to vote. That’s by design. And the way to change it is to vote in leaders who value the voting rights of all Americans.

As the great John Lewis said in his departing words to our nation, “The vote is the most powerful nonviolent change agent you have in a democratic society. You must use it because it is not guaranteed.”
