Friend,?
This has been an exciting week for the campaign as the
Tazewell County Governor Candidate Forum received extensive media
coverage.? Five of the six candidates participated.? We received
tremendous, positive feedback from the audience.? You can watch my
interview with former state representative Jeanne Ives that was done
before the forum by clicking on the picture
below.
We also made another major cable TV and digital buy for
our third TV commercial.? It will start running again on Thursday.?
This purchase was made possible by some of our donors who read these
weekly updates (you know who you are).? What we are about to say next,
we've said before, but it is worth repeating.? We don't need
billionaire backers when we have YOU on our team.? Thank you again for
your continued support and generosity.?

Volunteer of
the Week
This week's volunteer to highlight is Dianne Duffin. Dianne
volunteers as the scheduler for our campaign (you can reach her in
that capacity at [email protected]). She also recently gave
up a Saturday morning to staff our table at the Lake County Straw
Poll. Thank you, Dianne, for all your dedication and hard
work!

This
week we are showcasing one southern and one northern event where you
can support us.? You can purchase tickets for both these events at the
campaign website.
On May
9th, Paul will be at a backyard BBQ in Nashville, Illinois.? Tickets
are $50 a person or $75 per couple.?
?
On May 12th, both Paul & Carolyn will attend
a McHenry County reception that focuses on Carolyn's vision for
Illinois and the role of the Lieutenant Governor.? Tickets are $40 per
person.

?
Issue
Discussion:? Curriculum Transparency
Parents, not the government, should make the decisions
about their children's education.? But parents need information in
order to make those decisions.? That's why one of the proposals in our
"New Start for Illinois" policy agenda is curriculum transparency. ? ?
As
your Illinois Governor, I will have the power to make this change by
myself, without having to work with the legislature.? I intend to have
the Illinois State Board of Education issue a rule that predicates
P-12 education funding on curriculum transparency.? This means that
school districts will have to ensure that parents can view their
children's course material in order to be eligible for state funding.?
Once
again, thank you for reading this e-blast.? We look forward to seeing
you on the campaign trail.
Paul
