Dear Ward 8 Residents,
Mother’s Day is the special time of year when we get to celebrate the mothers and mother figures in our lives and community. While it’s not the only occasion we honor our mothers, it is one that lets the most important women in our lives know just how greatly appreciated they are.
In honor of the occasion, my office is hosting a Mother's Day Tasting at Martha's Table on Wednesday, May 4th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. To attend this, visit [link removed] to complete the registration. We look forward to toasting in appreciation to all the mothers that have served tirelessly on behalf of their children and loved ones. Thank you for all you do.
Regards,
Councilmember Trayon White, Sr.

** Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP)
------------------------------------------------------------
The Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) helps District residents earning less than 40% of the Area Median Income (AMI) who are facing housing emergencies by providing funding for overdue rent including late fees and court costs if a qualified household is facing eviction. The program also supports security deposits and first month’s rent for residents moving into new apartments. The amount paid on behalf of eligible households depends on a household’s income and available resources, and is subject to certain limitations.
District residents earning above the 40% AMI are connected to a local nonprofit to be evaluated for the COVID-19 Housing Assistance Program (CHAP ([link removed]) ).
On Monday, April 25th, the Bowser Administration, led by the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED), broke ground on 88 new town homes at the St. Elizabeths East Campus in Congress Heights.
