Last year, we launched the New Era PAC, an effort to turn the tide in Maryland politics. Through this project, our aim has been to put political power in the hands of working class people, taking it away from the wealthy few and the powerful corporations who constantly get their way. Now one year later, we have so much progress to celebrate as we approach the anniversary of launching this effort. We are building a people-powered PAC that funds working class candidates to run for state and local office, and we hope you’ll celebrate this with us!

Join us on May 21st as we celebrate one year of incredible progress through the New Era PAC and to continue to build towards victory in the 2022 election cycle.

We launched this effort at the beginning of this ongoing, global pandemic that totally disrupted our way of life and claimed many lives of our fellow Marylanders. The pandemic exposed our broken health care infrastructure, starting with our country's lack of a single-payer health insurance system. It also further exposed and exacerbated the disgusting economic inequality embedded in our system as millions of people lost their jobs and the stock market soared to new heights, creating even more wealth and power for the most privileged in our society. This crisis exposed the need for real solutions to tackle these long term systemic problems, and having people elected into office who will fight side by side with us can help create a better future.

The New Era PAC is an important vehicle for progressives across the state to come together to raise money and dedicate volunteer time to electing bold progressives up and down the ballot. Join us on May 21st to continue this momentum.

We have already made a tremendous amount of progress! We endorsed our first New Era Slate of candidates, all of whom are Progressive Maryland members that we trust will fight with us for bold changes at the state and local level. We’ve endorsed 27 candidates so far and already we have claimed our first official victory with the victory of Edward Burroughts in a special election in Prince George’s County Maryland. In January, Edward won with 72% of the vote with the support of Progressive Maryland and the New Era PAC!!!

We know that this will be the first of many victories as our other New Era PAC endorsed candidates head to election day in the Primary Election. However, these things don’t happen with pure luck. We know that we need to raise at least another $12,000 to hit our goals and support our champions on the ballot this cycle. We also need even more people to join in on the fun by knocking doors and making phone calls to reach thousands of voters in each jurisdiction our candidates are running in. We need your support right now if we are going to make the difference we hope to make in this election.
