Ushers and Tellers Needed for Annual Conference

We are looking for volunteers to serve as Ushers and Tellers at Annual Conference. The job descriptions for each are listed below. If you are interested, please email Heather Birge and let her know. Also include in that email your t-shirt size, as all volunteers will be given a shirt. If you signed up as a hospitality volunteer already on your Annual Conference registration, no need to contact Heather again. She already has your information and will be in touch with more details.

Ushers – Charlene Dart/Ralph Varner, leads

Volunteers serving as ushers play a critical welcoming role to the annual conference by greeting and helping clergy and lay members to the opening seating within their district section. Ushers will also help distribute worship bulletins and any other necessary handouts as approved by the DCM. Ushers assist with offering and distribution of the communion elements during worship. Ushers will sit on the aisle and serve at the discretion of the presiding bishop and take direction from the lead ushers.

Volunteers should wear comfortable shoes and come prepared for serving multiple climates (layers). Volunteers will be given a 2022 Annual Conference-themed t-shirt to wear as well as an Usher (BLUE) vest to be worn while the Conference is in session.

Tellers – Randy Biggerstaff/Karen Shearer, leads

(30 – 3/district and 3 at the smart station) Volunteers serving as tellers play a critical hospitality role to the annual conference when the Conference is in session and especially when votes are being taken. Tellers will sit on the aisle and assist clergy and lay members with voting, serve at the discretion of the presiding bishop and take direction from the lead tellers. Since AC voting takes place via smart devices, comfort working with technology and Wi-Fi-enabled devices is preferred for volunteers working in this area.

Volunteers should wear comfortable shoes and come prepared for serving multiple climates (layers). Volunteers will be given a 2022 Annual Conference-themed t-shirt to wear as well as a Teller (RED) vest to be worn while the Conference is in session.
