The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) is critical to helping ensure that victims of domestic violence, stalking, and sexual assault are protected and have access to needed services.
I’ve worked on this issue for years and I’m proud of the bill House Democrats passed this spring. There is a Senate version that mirrors our legislation, but Republicans are choosing to put their biased views and the NRA’s political interests over protecting women from harm instead of moving forward.
