We hope you and your family had a great Passover! As we head towards Yom Ha'shoa, Yom Ha'zikaron and Yom Ha'azmaut in Israel we wanted to share some updates and invite you to join us in our upcoming events to commemorate these meaningful days.

Those of you who participated in our 2021 Virtual Study Tour in Israel remember Robbie Gringras, an Israeli educator and performer who gave us a remarkable presentation about Mizrachi culture in Israel.
This Yom Ha'azmaut, Robbie is once again joining us to celebrate the complexity and energy of Israel by sharing the story of five contemporary Israeli songs that “sum it all up”!
Robbie will present and discuss 5 songs that represents the “Israeli story” inspired by the words of “Hatikvah” - “To Be a People Free in Our Land” ; One song addresses security (To Be), one relates to Jewishness (People), the third addresses Freedoms and the fourth talks about the Land. The last song will be for good luck!
All the clips will have English subtitles, and you are encouraged to connect your screen to some good loud speakers!
Come ready to share your list – what five songs would you say “sum up” Israel? |
About Robbie Gringrass
Robbie was born and bred in the Jewish community of Britain, but has been living and creating in Israel since 1996, primarily with Jewish Americans. As such his work – educational and theatrical – bridges the Israel-Diaspora connection with empathy and insight. He lives in the secular world, while his knowledge base and research specialties – especially after his many years studying in Jerusalem – are deeply religious. |

Help Ukrainian Refugees While Supporting Ameinu
|
While well into 2022, we at Ameinu wish to thank you for your financial support and activism during the last year. Our organizational objectives cannot be achieved without the strong support of our members, and we can’t overstate how much we value your involvement.
This year, as we launch our membership campaign, we are also offering the opportunity to contribute an additional amount to support the incredible refugee work being carried out in Poland by educators from our partner Dror Israel. Seven days a week, in two hangars of the Ptak Expo Center in Warsaw, they are operating two centers for children 3-13 and one for teens. Of the 3,000 refugees in the Ptak Expo, approximately 1,000 are children - so the need is immense. (see video below)
Please go to our website and submit your dues of $72, $108 or $180 as well as any additional contribution you may wish to make to the Dror Israel refugee work being done in Poland, or send a check to: Ameinu, 17 State St Suite 4000, New York, NY 10004.

Sharing Sorrow- Bringing Hope - The Israeli-Palestinian Memorial Day Ceremony |
Join the largest Israeli-Palestinian peace event in history. On Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at 1:30 PM EST we will gather to call for peace, freedom, and human rights for all. The Joint Israeli-Palestinian Memorial Day Ceremony is hosted by Combatants for Peace and The Parents Circle–Families Forum, and we are proud that Ameinu is an official sponsor this year. |

Back in January, Ameinu and Habonim Dror commemorated the International Holocaust Remembrance Day by looking back at our history as Labor Zionists, and remember the courage, valor and sacrifice made by our brothers and sisters in Europe during the Holocaust.
In that event - "For Three Lines in History" we delved into the role of the Labor Movement in the acts of resistance undertaken by the Krakow Underground. We got to know the leaders of the rebellions and what they fought for in the first organized act of Jewish resistance in Nazi occupied Europe 80 years ago.
The event was hosted by Tamar Levi, a Holocaust educator and Central Shlichah for Habonim Dror. In case you missed this event, we are offering the opportunity to watch the recording here.

A lot of you probably remember singing "Dona Dona", which is a metaphor for the Holocaust, in our youth movements. We wanted to share this video of our friend Marty Eisenstein and his Ensemble playing the song in Yiddish, Hebrew and English.
