A spot of bother.

Bloomberg (4/27/22) reports: "Britain’s cost-of-living squeeze is starting to bite into the spending power of most parts of the country, with 43% of those who pay energy bills saying they will struggle with the costs. The same proportion said they will be unable to save over the next year as a result of a jump in household bills, the Office for National Statistics said Monday. The findings from the Opinions and Lifestyle Survey showed 87% of adults felt prices rising."

"Republicans are reportedly talking about inflation six times more than Democrats, claiming that inflation is all Biden's fault. Nonsense. The problem isn't 'big government.' It's corporate greed—and weak antitrust enforcement. Know the truth."

EuroNews (4/26/22) reports: "Officials in Poland and Bulgaria say Russia is suspending their countries' natural gas deliveries starting on Wednesday. The two countries said Tuesday that Russian energy giant Gazprom had informed them it was halting gas supplies. The suspensions would be the first since Russian President Vladimir Putin said last month that 'unfriendly' foreign buyers would have to pay the state-owned Gazprom in rubles instead of other currencies."

Good thing we're switching to electric cars! Oh, wait...

Seeking Alpha (4/26/22) reports: "A late-April blizzard brought snow and ice to North Dakota's oil patch, leading the State's Pipeline Authority to estimate that daily oil production has fallen by as much as 60%, or ~600kb/d. The weather comes a week after a prior April blizzard reduced flows ~25%, according to the State's pipeline authority. North Dakota's energy infrastructure, including pump jacks, pipeline compressors and gas processing plants, all require electricity to operate; widespread power outages have been difficult to remedy, as snowy roads make it a challenge to reach impacted infrastructure. According to the local utility, in its 98-year history, 'the damage we have assessed so far is unprecedented. It's the worst damage Montana-Dakota Utilities has had on its system.'"

It ain't over til...

Politico (4/26/22) reports: "Environmental groups are blitzing Capitol Hill this week to press Democrats to seize their last best chance to pass party-line legislation to tame climate change. Even though climate advocates have dramatically scaled back their expectations from the early days of the Biden administration, the effort is aimed at salvaging the core clean energy components of the Build Back Better bill that Sen. Joe Manchin quashed in December."

Presented without comment.
