John, we’re making progress on prison phone justice — and we
have an important update:
You, along with thousands of other Color Of Change members, have
previously taken action on phone justice. Thank you for staying in the
fight with us — and our organizing efforts are seeing real results.
Over the past few weeks — as Color Of Change and our coalition partners
have ramped up outreach — more House members, including Rep. Ayanna
Pressley, have become the newest co-sponsors of the Martha Wright Prison
Phone Justice Act. Big news!
[ [link removed] ]Take the time to thank these members of Congress for fighting for Black
families with incarcerated loved ones.
[ [link removed] ]TWEET NOW: THANK NEW PHONE JUSTICE CO-SPONSORS
John, this is a positive development to move this vital
legislation forward. The more attention we bring to phone justice, the
more co-sponsors we win, the better chance this legislation has to pass.
Passing the Martha Wright Prison Phone Justice Act would give the FCC more
authority to regulate predatory prison telecom companies — which would
reduce the financial harm Black families are experiencing every time they
call an incarcerated family member.
[ [link removed] ]John, that’s why we want to say thank you to the members of
Congress who are advocating for prison phone justice.
[ [link removed] ]THANK YOU FOR FIGHTing TO KEEP FAMILIES CONNECTED
The fight for prison phone justice will continue over the next few weeks
and months. The Martha Wright Prison Phone Justice Act MUST pass Congress
before the mid-terms — and we must provide the financial relief that these
families deserve NOW.
John, while we thank new co-sponsors now, we still need to keep
up the pressure and get the Martha Wright Prison Phone Justice Act signed
into law.
There is more work ahead. Thank you for staying in the fight.
Until Justice is Real,
The Color Of Change Criminal Justice & Democracy Team
