Life for Robert wasn't easy for a very long time. He fled war in DRC when he was just four years old, living in a refugee camp in Uganda for 20 years.
His memory of the war starting is vivid. "The bullets were coming so close to me. Then I started crying and crying. I said, 'Mom,' but my mom was not around. Then my auntie, we lived close by, started calling. She was like, 'Hey, my son, come.' And I said, 'What's going on?' She said, 'Come faster, come faster, come—run.'"
From that day forward Robert, like so many refugees, lived a life in limbo. He didn't want to leave his home, but had no choice.
As you prepare for Thanksgiving with your loved ones, we hope you will help us support more refugee families like Robert's. Give now and your gift will be matched, help us reach twice as many refugee families around the world. |
