It’s unusual for me to send this email like this, but these are unusual times. I’m Chris Worthington, Managing Director & Editor-in-Chief of APM Reports, and I'm honored to work with the incredibly talented and diligent investigative journalists who deliver the stories from APM Reports.
I typically like to write about our good work in the community and its impact. Today though, I’m in your inbox on behalf of my colleagues because we need your financial support.
A couple of years ago, listeners like you responded with incredible generosity to the needs of APM Reports when the world was in disarray. As a nonprofit public media organization, we rely heavily on individual support to cover the cost of high-quality investigative journalism.
It takes significant resources to dig deeply and reveal hidden truths about important issues. It’s why local newsrooms around the country are forced to cut their investigative teams: they’re typically too expensive, and ultimately unsustainable. We’re committed to this work because we know investigative journalism is critical to a functional democracy. Our team recently completed a seven-episode podcast called Sent Away that revealed longstanding government neglect. It took more than a year of work. Today, it has been downloaded more than 1 million times. We’re currently hard at work on season three of In The Dark.
We’re committed to telling these stories, but we need your help to keep doing it.
