[Mental Health and Eating Disorders: A Conversation with Jamie Tworkowski and Johanna Kandel]([link removed])

To kick off Mental Health Awareness Month, please join us for an Instagram Live event: “Mental Health and Eating Disorders: A Conversation with Jamie Tworkowski and Johanna Kandel,” at 3 pm ET, April 29 on instagram.com/afspnational.

Mental Health Awareness Month is a time to recognize and raise visibility for mental healthcare, including for the 29 million Americans who experience eating disorders during their lifetimes. To discuss this important topic, Dr. Doreen Marshall, AFSP’s vice president of mission engagement, will moderate a panel with leading mental health experts. Marshall will be joined by panelists Johanna Kandel (she/her), founder & CEO of the National Alliance for Eating Disorders; and Jamie Tworkowski (he/him), NYT bestselling author of “If You Feel Too Much,” speaker and founder of To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA).

Topics will include:

- Common myths about eating disorders and who they affect
- The connection between eating disorders and other mental health conditions
- The current state of accessibility for eating disorder healthcare
- What to do if you suspect someone may be experiencing an eating disorder – and how to have a caring conversation with them
- How to reach out for help if you are living with an eating disorder
- Strategies for supporting a loved one
- What clinicians should know about caring for patients experiencing eating disorders

We encourage you to join us for this impactful discussion, and help spread
the word.
