open-seat primary on May 17 in Pennsylvania.

The Pittsburgh Tribune reports that Summer Lee is leading in the polls of
this newly redrawn, open, blue congressional district – by double digits!
However, 40% of voters are still learning about the candidates, so this
final push matters.
The Nation reports that as a state legislator "Summer Lee is on the front
lines of the fight to defend the right to vote -- and to give people
something to vote for." She also fights for unions, workers, and climate
justice.
Many of the issues Summer Lee fights for are personal. Her hometown is
riddled with steel processing plants that cause massive pollution and some
of the worst air quality in the country. With kids suffering from severe
asthma and others diagnosed with cancer, Summer has organized her
community against environmental injustices for years.
Raised by a single mom and personally saddled with crippling student
loans, Summer is committed to canceling student debt.
After she crushed a conservative 20-year Dem incumbent to win her state
house seat, she started a group to support progressive women, LGBTQ
candidates, and candidates of color. ALL of the candidates won their
primaries!
It isn’t enough to just elect Democrats. It matters which Democrats.
Especially in Democratic-leaning districts!
