John,
On the very last day to challenge petition signatures, one was filed against my campaign.
The lawsuit laughably suggested that all my signatures from registered voters in the district were somehow invalid.
This isn’t true in the slightest, and I’m happy to share that the court quickly dismissed the case.
The fact is, this is one of the most frivolous, incompetent lawsuits I’ve ever seen.
To their filing, they attached the wrong spreadsheet as evidence, and their lawsuit was so poorly executed, the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office got involved and filed a motion to dismiss.
The plaintiff was a man named Joe Kasa, who has ties to another candidate in this district’s GOP primary: Kelly Cooper.
Kasa and his (supposed) attorneys filed challenges against every candidate in the race except Cooper and Tanya Wheeless.
Cooper and his pawn Kasa were trying to clear the field. Not by campaigning on the issues and being the best candidate, but by wasting the court’s time with lawsuits that are as frivolous as it gets.
This grand display of incompetence was an amateur scare tactic meant to slow us down, but it failed spectacularly.
The fact is, our campaign continues to build momentum and we’re very excited for our primary election which is only about three months away.
If you haven’t already, please donate today to show Kelly Cooper and his buffoon lawyers that your voice will not be silenced with frivolous lawsuits.
Thank you,
Rene Lopez
Candidate for Congress
