As the youngest member of Congress from California, I'm representing a new generation of leaders who are taking on the biggest problems we face — an unfair economy, a climate crisis, gun violence, and a devastating pandemic, among other pressing issues.
As a millennial and a member of the Columbine generation, the issue of gun violence prevention is deeply personal to me. Active shooter drills have become routine for school-aged children, and just recently we observed the anniversaries of the tragedies in Newtown, CT, and Parkland, FL. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
I am honored to have received the 2022 Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate distinction as well as an endorsement from the Brady Campaign. These organizations are committed to ending gun violence and I am honored that they recognize me as a leader on the issue in Congress.
Together we can make politicians stop playing politics with people’s lives and get to work to keep our communities safe by passing common-sense gun violence prevention legislation.
Thank you,
Sara
