John, we want to
talk about someone a little different today: Elon Musk.

We hope after you're done reading you'll understand why it's so important
that we keep people-first leaders like Cori in office so that we can
create a new kind of politics that centers the priorities of everyday
families, not billionaires. [ [link removed] ]If you agree, will you chip in
$5 right now to power our re-election campaign?

Yesterday, Elon Musk reached a deal with Twitter to buy the company for
roughly $44 billion.

First of all, it’s ridiculous that in a society where people are evicted,
where people are struggling to make ends meet, someone has $44 billion to
burn on an app. We need to finally tax the rich.

Second, this dangerous deal will put the power of deciding how information
is communicated on a major social media platform in the hands of a
billionaire supported by the far-right. After everything we've learned
about the danger of disinformation on social media from the pandemic and
the 2020 election — it's terrifying to think how he wants to use his
power.

This is the same Elon Musk who has been accused of anti-worker practices
in Tesla plants and being openly hostile to unions.

The same Elon Musk who paid an effective tax rate of 3.27% from 2014 to
2018.

And the same Elon Musk whose estimated net worth has grown an estimated
10x since the start of the pandemic.

During a time when everyday Americans are struggling to make rent, put
food on the table, and stay healthy during an ever-changing pandemic, we
need to put power back in the hands of the people — not a select few
billionaires.

Billionaires like Elon Musk exploit our suffering, our labor, and our
system — and increasingly are fighting to consolidate power in their
hands. That's why Cori's working in Congress to tax the rich, take our
wealth back for everyday families, and legislate in favor of workers
unionizing around the country.

[ [link removed] ]If you're with Cori in this movement, will you chip in
$5 or anything you can so we can continue growing our
progressive movement and pass the change our communities need?

[ [link removed] ]Chip in $5

When you love all of humanity, you can think of a better use for $44
billion. You care that everyone is housed. You care that everyone is fed.
You care that everyone is safe. You care that everyone has health care.
You care that everyone has an education.

This is what Cori is striving for. It seems like common sense — but dark
money, white supremacy, disinformation, and our broken political system
have made this vision, a divisive one.

The challenges we face right now in Congress — from the Jim Crow
filibuster, to the dark money funding too many of our elected officials'
campaigns — have made it clear that it's going to take a widespread,
grassroots effort to transform our politics toward one where everyday
people are put first.

Cori needs your support as we organize and legislate in Congress for an
agenda that puts people first. [ [link removed] ]If you can afford it, will you chip in
$5 or anything you can to help us continue doing this work?

Thank you for all of your support.

Team Cori
