Make no mistake: Republicans oppose clean energy precisely because it is cheap.

You can't make money selling oil to someone with solar panels on the roof and an electric car in the garage. Consumers benefit. Oil companies don't.

And given a choice between your wallet and oil company balance sheets, Republicans will take from the former to subsidize the latter every time.

I will never apologize for fighting to give Americans access to cheap, clean energy. And I will never apologize for prioritizing that goal over both-sides bipartisanship that falls short of what we need.

But it’s made me a top target for national Republicans and their special-interest allies, and now I’m facing one of the toughest elections of my career. I can’t fight back without you – I’m humbly asking you to chip in $25 or any amount so I can defend my seat and keep putting your priorities first in Congress.

We must move beyond our reliance on fossil fuels, but the only way we’ll make meaningful progress is if we elect leaders who aren’t afraid to do what’s necessary over what’s politically convenient.
