It was a powerful and joyous occasion to vote alongside my colleagues to confirm Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court.

Let me be clear — nothing can take away from this historic and monumental moment for our country that you made possible. Ketanji Brown Jackson’s confirmation to the Court is a poignant reminder that when we push our country towards its highest ideals, we can create an America as good as its promise.

But Mitch McConnell and far too many of my Republican colleagues showed during her Senate confirmation hearings that there’s no bar too low for them — from attacking President Biden’s nominees to preventing Democrats' work to uphold the Constitution – in their endless pursuit of power.

What’s even more shameful is that in the weeks ahead, McConnell and his dark money allies are going to level some truly obscene and absurd attacks against my Democratic colleagues who are up for reelection for voting for Ketanji Brown Jackson’s appointment.

With an overwhelming majority of Americans supporting Ketanji Brown Jackson’s confirmation to the Court, we must be prepared to fight back against Republicans’ misinformation campaign and protect my colleagues who are up for reelection.
