In a moment I'm going to ask you to chip in before our end-of-month fundraising deadline, but first I want to tell you how I got here and what's next.

I never forget where I come from or the opportunities New Hampshire and this country have given me and my family.

I am the embodiment of the American Dream. When my great-grandfather Arthur Papathanasiou left his home in Livadi, a tiny hilltop town in Turkish occupied northern Greece, to start a better life in 1906, he wasn’t sure what he would find in America. He didn’t know exactly where he was going, but he believed that this new world would be better than the one he knew.

It took a lot of hard work for my great-grandfather to start a candy store and then a restaurant in Manchester. But over 100 years later, our community keeps his business and dream alive.

I don’t know if my great-grandparents ever thought their great-grandson would represent New Hampshire in Congress, but I hope they’d be proud.

When I started working at our family restaurant at age 14 as a busboy and dishwasher, I learned that running a business is not about the bottom line but about serving the larger community around you. No matter who walked through our doors, we welcomed each and every customer as if they were a guest at our own home.

After college I never had a doubt about returning to Manchester. New Hampshire is where I grew up, got a great public education, and worked hard to keep my family business running. I have always wanted to give back to the community that has given me so much — whether it was working at the restaurant or delivering results in public office.

My decision to run for Congress in NH-01 came down to the fact that some New Hampshire families were being left behind. We can’t succeed as a country if the American Dream is a quaint notion from the early 20th century.

Without taking a dime of corporate PAC money, we were able to build two winning grassroots campaigns in one of the "swingiest" districts in the country. And it was all possible because of this team.

In Congress I've fought to support New Hampshire’s small businesses, improve access to affordable health care, get our veterans the benefits they have earned, combat the opioid epidemic, and protect our drinking water.

But I need your help to keep fighting for our community, team.

I am the first Democrat to win reelection in this district in twelve years, and GOP super PACs have made NH-01 one of their top targets. They've already spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on attack ads, and we can expect more where that came from before Election Day.

That's why I'm turning to grassroots supporters like you: Before our end-of-month fundraising deadline, will you chip in $10, or whatever you can, to support my people-powered campaign and help me keep fighting for the American Dream in Congress? >>[link removed]
