John,
Do you know what’s giving me hope right now?
It’s the wave of working people standing up and organizing to demand justice.
It’s workers at Amazon and Starbucks and Apple stores and workplaces nationwide voting to unionize, filing for union elections, and fighting for better working conditions, fair wages, dignity, and their co-workers.
The Working Families Party is about working people organizing together for a brighter future — so to see the growth of this organizing is a beautiful thing.
The resilience of these workers standing up to corporations reminds us that if you want to win anything, you’ve got to bring people together, make a plan, stay focused, and stay hopeful.
But if you turn on the news or talk to a friend about this year’s elections, the most common thing you’ll hear is about how bad the midterms will be for Democrats.
Cynicism is a tool of the political right, John. It’s meant to dim the flame of our hope and bravery. It’s meant to make us give up – to make us think “if we can’t win, why bother trying?” This cynicism has an impact, compounded by the burnout of an enduring pandemic and the fallout from the Trump years.
I say we refuse to let a smug cynicism take us over. I say we make a plan, get organized, stay focused, and we do the work to win.
It’s time for all working people to win the power we need to win the future we deserve.
That is exactly what WFP is doing in communities across the country.
The midterm elections aren’t just “coming up” — they are already here. There are dozens of Working Families champions on the ballot all over the country next month, and we’re scaling up our plans to elect them in the coming weeks.
In the general elections, we’ll do everything we can to stop Republicans. But it’s in the primaries over the next few weeks where we choose who we want to see in power.
We’re going all out to support our progressive slate of candidates on the ballot in May and June from New York, Michigan, North Carolina, Texas, Oregon, Kentucky, and Georgia. Can you make a contribution to the Working Families Majority Fund to support the WFP slate in these final weeks and help us elect the candidates we need in office?

Every day, may we make it our mission to win over a cynic, to convert someone who has given up, to teach someone how to get involved, and gather together in community to fight for a better, more hopeful future.
With hope,
