We have the solutions to solve the climate crisis in California, friend. So we’re giving Sacramento a cheat sheet: Invest 5% of the state budget on climate action.

Governor Newsom has proposed $37.6 billion on climate action over the next five years, an investment that is historic but inadequate.

That’s only about 2% of the state budget. We want to double it.

Our climate crisis is big, so only a big investment in climate solutions can overcome it. This year’s record budget surplus gives lawmakers a rare chance to act in time to stabilize our climate future.

Right now, will you add your name to our petition calling on Governor Newsom and the State Legislature to invest in a #ClimateCourageBudget of $75 billion to address the climate crisis with the urgency is requires?

Thanks, as always.

Subject: California’s budget: The good news and the bad news

Good news, friend: Governor Newsom has proposed investing $37.6 billion in climate solutions over the next five years, the largest climate investment in California history.

Here’s the rub: While unprecedented, this climate investment is nonetheless inadequate. It’s not enough to stop wildfires, transition to a clean energy economy, and avoid burdening our kids with an irreversible climate catastrophe.

Spread across five years in a state budget that ranges between $260-270 billion annually, that historic $37.6 billion investment only amounts to about 2% of the budget!

Is two cents on the dollar how much we value a safe and healthy planet, friend?

We just launched an advocacy campaign to push Governor Newsom and the California Legislature to double down on climate investment and dedicate over 5% (about $75 billion) of the annual budget to climate action. Are you with us?

Sign on to tell California leaders to pass a #ClimateCourageBudget!

Climate change has a clear cause and proven solutions. We have the know-how, friend.

But time is running out. Firefighters are bravely facing down walls of fire as our forests burn, farmworkers are suffering searing heat while harvesting food for our tables, and kids playing outside are fighting for each breath while choking on pollution.

This is our last and best chance to save California, and we need leaders with climate courage to do so. Lawmakers must invest this year’s record state budget surplus in bold climate solutions to preserve a safe, healthy future for all Californians.

Tell California leaders to make a down payment on saving the California by investing 5% of the state budget on climate action.

Thanks for being in the fight with us.
