November 25, 2019: With Thanksgiving just a few days away, retailers are gearing up for a big holiday shopping season. The National Retail Foundation (NRF) estimates that this will lead to the hiring of at least 530,000 temporary workers. That number may grow as high as 590,000.[1]
Overall, the NRF estimates holiday sales will reach at least $728 billion, up roughly 4% from a year ago. Nearly a quarter of that total will be spent in online outlets.[1]
