Rana has lived the struggles of working class families all her life, and those experiences drive her activism today.
As the proud daughter of working class Egyptian immigrants, Rana watched her parents work hard to build their small business and chase their American dream. But over time, rising rents and operating costs forced them to close down.
At age 16, Rana was the target of a hate attack when a man ripped off her hijab and assaulted her on the street. She escaped, and vowed never to feel so vulnerable again. She trained to become a black belt in Karate, then began teaching self-defense classes to other women in the basement of her local mosque.
Over the last 10 years Rana has helped train thousands of women and girls around the world in self-defense, anti-hate crime, and emotional healing.
The inequality that drove her father to close his small business has only gotten worse through the pandemic. New Yorkers, and Americans everywhere, have fallen further behind while billionaires have seen their fortunes explode.
To build an economy that works for ALL of us, we have to elect working people like Rana. Will you split a contribution between Rana’s campaign and Brand New Congress now?
