WILD CALIFORNIA ESCAPE: CHANNEL ISLANDS NATIONAL PARK November 1-5, 2022

Discover the best kept secret in the National Park System.
The Channel Islands are the best kept secret in the National Park System—with 2,000 species of plants and animals, including 150 species found nowhere else in the world. To reach this magnificent national park, you need a ship. Travel with us aboard the 50-cabin National Geographic Venture, on this five-day wellness and wildness expedition. We will discover three of the five islands of the Channel Islands National Park, as well as Catalina Island.

Embark from Los Angeles for five-days of exploration in the Channel Islands.
On this exciting expedition, you’ll have the opportunity to join naturalists and NPCA staff hosts to explore unmarred landscapes, hike in a rare grove of Torrey pines, paddle the rugged shoreline and marvel at the architectural gems of Catalina Island while setting your own pace of recreation or relaxation. Enjoy picnic lunches with sweeping views of the land and natural harbor and evenings under starry skies. Visit the famous community of Avalon—or you may opt to go scuba diving if you are certified. Savor the spectacular cuisine on board after thrilling days full of unforgettable activities.

Amongst the sweeping vistas, behold a breathtaking diversity of animals.
As you admire the unique seascapes and landscapes of Channel Islands, you’ll want to keep your eye out for some of the 2,000 species that call the Channel Islands home. On Santa Rosa Island, we may catch a glimpse—or photo—of the elusive Channel Island fox, an animal that the Channel Islands National Park saved from the brink of extinction. You might also find an unusual animal on Santa Catalina Island—American bison. We’ll uncover the interesting story behind how they got to the island, along with the current conservation efforts to protect the island from this non-endemic animal. Aboard the National Geographic Venture, search for feeding humpback whales, wake-surfing dolphins and curious sea lions.
